Empowering Communities: How Timotheos and Southern Irrigation Are Working Together for Sustainable Change
Southern Irrigation is western Canada’s leader of irrigation solutions with almost 35 years of experience. They have prided themselves on supplying and designing superior systems for high performance and reliability year after year. Their extensive irrigation experience also allows them to serve their customers with more than just the supply of quality products. The team is fully equipped with certified designers, superior products, and the manpower needed to provide complete solutions for any size irrigation job, which is the perfect team to help the Timotheos Foundation in Malawi. This team of experts in irrigation have teamed with the Timotheos Foundation to provide the Chigumikire centre with the help that is needed to run their water system to get the most out of the water supply that they have.
Southern Irrigation currently has 11 locations across BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan: Chilliwack, Oliver, Kamloops, Kelowna, Williams Lake, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Saskatoon, Swift Current, and Outlook.
As part of their core values, Southern Irrigation takes pride in giving back. Each location has a culture committee dedicated to maintaining their culture and organizing Blue Crew events focused around serving in their communities. This committee also helped initiate their involvement in the projects with Timotheos and Malawi.
With their expertise, Southern Irrigation partners with Timotheos Foundation in Southern Malawi to contribute irrigation techniques and agricultural development at the Timotheos Child Care Centers.
In 2023 they sent their first team to Nsanje, Malawi, working together with local farmers on a test plot and to put in drip irrigation lines to test how this impacts the growth of the crops at the Chigumukire Child Care Center.
Now, a couple of years later, Southern Irrigation is committed to supporting the agriculture development project. Using their irrigation expertise to find African solutions in southern Malawi where extreme drought in the dry season and intense rain in the rainy season adds extra challenges.
With Southern Irrigation’s support, the Timotheos Foundation can improve agricultural output and when the fields start producing more crops, it will instantly create an income flow for the Child Care Center.
